ABOUT

The Summer Industry Dance Intensive is a 5-day program featuring educators who are professional/influential dancers and choreographers in the entertainment industry. These educators are specifically chosen based on their notable backgrounds leading up to their professional status and of course all of their incredible accolades thereafter.

Led by creative director and choreographer Oth'than Burnside, or simply known as "O", the program brings over 20 years of industry knowledge and experience. Throughout the 5 days each student will go through daily routines of body conditioning, learning + understanding choreography, performance tips and will receive assessments which will highlight their progression as well as notes on how they can improve. With this, the program assures that each student will gain vital and timeless tools to use whether it’s for a dance recital, competition, audition or on future professional jobs.

*this program welcomes students ages 12 and up. The skill level is intermediate but we encourage all levels to join as we focus more so on performance abilities and less on difficulty.

THE 3 ELEMENTS

CONDITIONING (3).png

Dancers are athletes and it is important that your body is conditioned to withstand the amount of physical activity they endure while rehearsing countless hours, followed by multiple performances.

Whether it's on a dance team, cheerleading squad, a dance company or individually it's important to have a strong and stable core plus strength to support your body as a dancer.

We will make sure you walk away with the proper strength training as well the proper stretch techniques for each student to take along within them on their journey as a performer.

CHOREOGRAPHY (4).png

Learning and executing choreography like anything can be a challenge.

Our program focuses on teaching choreography in a way that everyone can learn and thrive as a performer. This series of our program is based on industry commercial dance which has elements of many styles including hip hop, contemporary, jazz and ballet.

From understanding how to stay in the pocket, groove to the beat, breathe through your movements, be more explosive or learning isolations, our goal is for our students to walk away feeling challenged as well as accomplished, understanding choreography beyond an 8 count.

ASSESSMENT (3).png

The assessments are the best and perhaps the most important part of this intensive.

Each day there will be an assessment period where students will receive vital critiques to help them fine tune their skills. They will go through various performance exercises; mock auditions and the students will be allowed a question and answer period.

The students will also receive their final assessment via email along with a headshot that will be taken on the final day.
